Some test results came back and reported that there were some abnormal cells on my cervix. So, I went in today for a VERY uncomfortable test called a colposcopy, so my doctor could take a closer look at what could have caused the abnormal results. We were hoping that it was nothing to worry about, but unfortunately he found some areas with his fancy microscope that concerned him. He ended up taking some samples to have tested for cancer. He said it didn't look like it was all that bad, but that it was something we definitely need to be concerned about.
If it's not pre-cancerous (God willing), they'll repeat the test after the baby's born, and then take action to destroy or remove the questionable spots. It's possible that childbirth itself could wash away the cells, but it sounds like they were serious enough that my doctor doubted they would go away on their own.
All of this is very strange, because I had normal test results less than 6 months ago -- so it's likely the new crazy hormones with the pregnancy have caused a lot of weird cellular activity.
I'm trying really hard to not let it get me down too much. Right now, the residual pain from the test today is acting as a constant reminder of things that might be wrong or go wrong... and when my mind wanders down that road, I lose it a little bit.
This may be more information than anyone needs to know, but... I don't mind sharing.
Well, my thoughts and prayers are with you and Colin always! Things show up that are "abnormal" pretty often, and they don't always mean anything. Hopefully, it is just your hormone changes, and will be back to normal after the birth.
